About Fit2Ride

Why is Fit2Ride different?

Horse rider fitness training is crucial for enhancing riding strength and mobility for several reasons:

Core Strength

Riding requires a stable and strong core to maintain balance, posture and mobility. This aids in your ability to remain in the saddle evenly and move with your horse.

Leg and Lower Body Strength and Hip Mobility

Riding involves constant leg work, from maintaining proper leg position to providing cues to the horse. Specific exercises that focus on leg strength, and hip mobility help riders develop the necessary stamina and control.

Balance and Coordination

Exercises that enhance balance, can translate directly to better stability and coordination while riding.

Flexibility

Riding requires a wide range of motion in various muscle groups. Stretching to improve flexibility, enhance mobility and preventing stiffness aids a rider’s ability to adapt to the horse’s movement.

Endurance

Riding demands endurance. Muscular endurance of repetitive movements are equally as important as cardiovascular workouts.

Injury Prevention

A strong and flexible body is less prone to injuries during riding. Horserider fitness training can help reduce the risk of overuse, strains, sprains, and other common riding-related injuries.

Communication with the Horse

Physical fitness can positively impact a rider’s ability to communicate effectively with the horse through subtle cues and aids, as a strong and mobile body can convey commands more clearly.

Confidence and Mental Focus

Being fit can also boost a rider’s confidence and mental focus. Knowing that you have the physical strength and control necessary for riding can improve overall riding performance.

A bit about me

With over 25 years dedicated to the fitness training, gym, and wellness sector, and a lifelong passion for horse riding, I've finally merged my love for equestrian and human movement.

My firm belief is our horses should not be our workouts. Off-saddle work must complement our riding and we can aim to mitigate our imbalances and weakness, never mind the ongoing strains and injuries because of riding.

My background in Human Movement Sciences, coupled with a spectrum of Sports Specific qualifications, has enabled me to own gyms, wellness centres, and personal training businesses. I have also raced triathlon locally and internationally and still love to run.

Therefore, coupling experience, qualifications, understanding and passion I aim to improve you, the rider, to do your best for your horse-rider partnership.
